Description:

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Georgia
invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in
Germanic Linguistics, beginning August 2013. Preferred areas of
specialization are applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or
historical linguistics. Interest in language program coordination welcome. 

The successful candidate will be expected to teach German language courses
at all levels as well as linguistics courses at the undergraduate and
graduate levels. The teaching load is four courses per year. 

Requirements: 
Ph.D. in Germanic Linguistics or related field. Candidates should be able
to demonstrate scholarly potential, have German language teaching
experience, proven excellence in teaching, and possess native or
near-native fluency in both German and English.

Applications should include a cover letter, c.v., writing sample, statement
of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation. Please send

Review of applications will begin on November 30, 2012, and continue until
the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the MLA
convention in Boston, January 3-6, 2013.
