Governments, is seeking a highly motivated Junior Research Group Leader
at the interface of linguistics/cognitive modeling and educational science.

This junior research group leader is expected to combine linguistic research
into language acquisition, reading competence, language teaching, or
intelligent computer-assisted language learning with psychometric expertise in
the field of educational science and psychology. The successful applicant will
build a cutting-edge research agenda developing models of language-related
competencies, measurement techniques, or interventions. The research agenda
may include topics such as evaluating existing or new interventions to improve
reading competence, linguistic correlates and criterial features of CEFR
levels of language proficiency, measures of readability and automatic text
simplification, intelligent language tutoring systems, input enhancement and
language awareness, or language task design.

The successful candidate holds an excellent PhD in either Psychology,
Educational Science, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Second Language
Acquisition, or a related field.

Previous experience with interdisciplinary research as well as a strong
interest and open-mindedness with respect to building interdisciplinary links
with educational science are mandatory. Moreover, successful candidates will
be expected to co-supervise doctoral students working in the intersections of
their respective disciplines and educational science. Contributing to the
elaboration of the LEAD research program within the LEAD Graduate School by
acquiring supplementary third-party funds forms an additional requirement for
filling a position.

We offer a full-time position of 3 years with a possible extension of up to
two years at the German public salary scale E 14 TV-L, starting at the next
possible date. The teaching load is anticipated to be one course per semester
(in English).

Applications should include a letter of motivation, a one-page synopsis of the
planned research, a CV including a list of publications, one key publication,
and contact details of two referees.

Please submit your application via email with one single pdf attachment to the
Director of the LEAD Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Trautwein, at the
application email address below, no later than December 16, 2012.

The University of Tübingen is committed to increasing the proportion of women
in areas in which they are underrepresented. Qualified women, therefore, are
particularly encouraged to apply. Equally qualified applicants with
disabilities will be given preference. Recruitment is conducted by the central
university administration.
