Description:

The University of Geneva, Department of Linguistics, invites applications for
a postdoctoral research associate position in natural language processing. The
successful candidate will be part of a Swiss National Science Foundation
project on typology and unsupervised multilingual learning focusing on syntax
and word order.

The project will be led by Paola Merlo within the research group Computational
Learning and Computational Linguistics (http://clcl.unige.ch/). The
successful candidate will be expected to participate in this project, plus
engage in research of their own choosing.

Applicants should have completed a PhD either in Linguistics,  or
Computer Science or Computational Linguistics by the start of the
project. The ideal candidate will have a background in natural language
processing and statistical methods and have at least basic knowledge of
linguistic issues in syntax. Good programming skills are required. Fluency in
either English or French is required.

The appointment is for a fixed term of 2 years, starting as early as January
2013 or soon thereafter. Salaries are competitive, and dependent on
qualifications. Applicants  should  send a  curriculum vitae with
publication list,  a statement of research interest, and names and addresses
of  at least  3 references to Paola Merlo. The application should be sent
