Job Summary:
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of St.
Thomas, St. Paul, MN is seeking applications for the following position:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Ph.D. preferred, ABD
considered (with initial appointment at rank of instructor) in Hispanic
Linguistics with primary specialization in one of the following areas:
translation/interpretation, Spanish for the professions (e.g. Business
Spanish and Spanish for the Medical Professions), language testing and
assessment, or sociolinguistics (especially Spanish in the U.S.).
Candidates should also have a secondary specialization or significant
experience in at least one of the other areas listed. Native or near-native
fluency in Spanish is required. 3/3 teaching load. Salary is commensurate
with qualifications.

Ability and willingness to teach a variety of courses in our Spanish
Linguistics and Applied Languages Studies track and beginning and
intermediate Spanish is required. Other duties include: student advising,
department and university service, community engagement and involvement in
study-abroad programs. Innovative approaches to teaching, demonstrated
excellence in teaching, knowledge/use of technology in the classroom, and
an established research history or potential are required.
