Description:

Virginia International University is seeking a full-time Program Director
for our TESOL Program in our School of English Language Studies. This
position will be on-ground in Fairfax, VA.

Responsibilities:
The TESOL Program Director is responsible for the academics, development,
and management of the TESOL program and supervises the full-time and
part-time staff and faculty supporting the program.

Job-Specific Duties:
-Manage course scheduling and calendar for each semester.

-Evaluate and develop curriculum for the existing and new TESOL courses.

-Work with the HR department to recruit, hire and train qualified
instructors that fit program requirements.

-Direct and supervise the work of the staff and faculty of the TESOL program.

-Conduct classroom observations and evaluate faculty's instructional
performance.

-Advise students on academic policies and disciplinary issues.

-Manage the VIU TESOL website; conduct surveys and assist with the VIU
TESOL page on social media sites to better involve and engage students and
faculty.

-Instruct TESOL courses as necessary (ensure exposure to two levels in the
Fall and Spring semesters and one in the Summer session).

-Research textbooks, software products, websites, and language lab learning
activities that can help students' language learning.

-Develop fully online TESOL program.

-Represent the School to internal and external academic communities,
alumni, business and industry, organizations, and the general community.

-Other tasks assigned by the supervisor. 

Required Education and Experience:
Doctoral degree in TESOL or education field; at least 4 years of experience
in teaching TESOL graduate-level courses, developing curriculum and
managing graduate programs.

Required Skills:
Exceptional oral and written English communication skills; excellent
organizational, time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills;
ability to work with a highly diverse staff, faculty, and student body;
ability to excel in a demanding, outcome oriented and dynamic work
environment; proven high level of computer skills.
