Meeting Description:

We are pleased to announce the 13th International Conference of the Association of Young Researchers in Historiography and History of the Spanish Language (AJIHLE), which will be held at the University of Salamanca (Spain) April 10-12, 2013.

The Association of Young Researchers in Historiography and History of the Spanish Language was founded in 1999 and its main purpose is to enhance the encounter and exchange between philologists and linguists who are beginning their research in the domains of historical linguistics as well as linguistic historiography. In order to serve this purpose, AJIHLE holds a yearly conference which allows for exchanges between participants and the establishment of networks between Spanish and international universities through their young scholars. Also, the conference is intended to enhance critical research and to reinforce the relevance and the need for both a diachronic study of the history of the Spanish language and the diffusion of scientific contributions in this field.

Call for Papers:

Papers are invited in any aspect of the history of the Spanish language or general linguistic historiography by graduate students (MA and PhD) as well as any researchers who do not hold a PhD degree by January 31, 2013.

Proposals for papers or round-table discussions may be submitted before December 31, 2012 to ciajihle13 at usal.es. Both the abstracts and the papers need to be delivered in Spanish. Forms for the submission of abstracts can be found on the website of the conference under the section 'Inscripción' > 'Formularios'.

Papers will be selected by the conference's Scientific Committee, composed by members of both the AJIHLE's Executive Committee and the conference's Organizing Committee. Once the acceptance of the proposal has been notified, presenters may fill in the enrollment form and submit it along with a proof of payment.

Proposals for the following sections will be considered:

1. Historical phonetics and phonology
2. Graphematics
3. Historical morphology and syntax
