Meeting Description:

On behalf of the LLM Organising Committee, it is our pleasure to announce the forthcoming multidisciplinary Language, Literature, Marginalisation conference, organized by the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, which will be held on April 26-27, 2013.

Having chosen the topic of marginalisation in full awareness of its multidimensionality, we take as the starting point the sociological notion which refers to the social processes in which individuals, groups or entire communities are socially excluded and blocked from rights, opportunities and resources. After exploring the concept of values in the previous conference, in our post-postmodern times it seems important to address, one more time, the social process of becoming or being relegated to the fringe of society, in search of new values that would transcend marginalisation and lead to inclusion and integration.

The idea of the conference is, however, a very broad one - we hope not only to examine various forms of marginalisation (social, political, ethnic, religious, educational, linguistic, intellectual, economic, etc.) from the perspective of cultural, linguistic and literary studies, but also welcome contributions that question what is considered to be the central and the mainstream and deal with the marginal in the sense of theories, methods and phenomena in linguistic and literary studies.

Conference fee is 30 Euros (also payable in dinars), covering organisational costs, conference folder, refreshments during coffee breaks, buffet lunch on April 26, and snacks before the closing of the conference on April 27. Conference dinner party (10 Euros) on April 26, 2013, is optional.

Call for Papers:

Conference languages are English and Serbian, for 15-minute presentations followed by 5 minute discussion time.

If you would like to participate, please fill in the registration form attached to this Call and submit it no later than January 15, 2013 to the following address: jkmnis2013 at gmail.com.

The submitted abstracts will be reviewed and notification of acceptance will be sent by February 15, 2013. A selection of papers will be published after the conference in a peer-reviewed two-volume Conference Proceedings.
