The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences  offers one of the most
comprehensive and diverse ranges of humanities and social science studies
in the Asia Pacific region and is regularly ranked in the top 20 arts
faculties in the world.

The Department of Korean Studies in the School of Languages and Cultures
(SLC) offers a comprehensive program of studies, incorporating language
acquisition for learners at all levels, and covering many aspects of Korean
history, culture and society. 

As a Lecturer in Korean studies you will contribute to the research profile
of the department and teach existing Korean language courses as well as
courses in other subject areas related to Korean history, culture and
society. In addition, you will contribute to the Asian studies program in
the school by offering a course in your field of interest in an area within
the humanities and/or social sciences. You will also participate in
curriculum development, administration and the promotion of Korean studies
across campus and in the wider community. 

To secure this role you must have:
-Native or near-native fluency in Korean and English.
-Experience in teaching Korean studies at university level, preferably in
Australia
-A PhD in Korean studies or a relevant social science discipline.
-Demonstrated potential to contribute to the research program of the Korean
studies department and the school in an area that contributes to or
complements the existing research strengths.  

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide evidence of their capacity
for excellent teaching and a sample of research writing in English.
Candidates may be requested to do a teaching demonstration as part of the
interview process. 

The position is full-time, continuing, subject to the completion of a
satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees.
Membership of a University-approved superannuation scheme is a condition of
appointment for new appointees. 

Remuneration Package: 
Competitive remuneration package of $104,644 - $124,263 p.a. is available
(consisting of a base salary Lecturer (Level B): $88,426 to $105,004 p.a.,
leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation.
