Description:

Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Chinese 20th Century Literary
Studies, Cultural Studies or Applied Linguistics.

The Department of Literatures, Cultures and Languages at the University of
Connecticut invites applications for two (2) new positions in Mandarin
Chinese Literature, Language and Culture beginning Fall 2013.

One position is at the rank of Assistant Professor. The other position is
open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor).

Minimum Qualifications: 
-PhD in hand by May 20, 2013
-Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English
-Strong commitment to research and scholarly publications
-Evidence of teaching excellence
-Experience teaching Chinese at all levels

Preferred Qualifications: 
-Film and media studies and Chinese film
culture
-Gender studies/politics
-Digital humanities
-Applied linguistics
-Language Across the Curriculum
-Experience teaching at the American university/college level

Appointment Terms:  
Both are full-time, nine-month positions, with rank and salary commensurate
with qualifications. The Assistant Professor position is tenure-track. The
open rank position is tenure-track or eligible for tenure at hire.

These positions are at the main campus in Storrs but incumbents may work at
the campuses located at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Torrington,
Waterbury, and/or any other University location.
