Special Issue of Studies in Graduate and Professional Student Development
(Stillwater, OK: New Forums Press), "Talking Matters: Research on Talk and
Communication of International Teaching Assistants"

This special issue showcases current applied research from working ITA
educators on broadly conceived issues concerning ITAs' professional talk and
communication. Readers of this special issue are university personnel at all
levels and in multiple disciplines (including STEM fields) who plan formal and
informal initiatives for ITAs and U.S. undergraduates.
 
Prospective authors and reviewers: Applied linguists, communication studies
specialists, intercultural communication specialists, teaching and learning
center staff, and others actively engaged in applied research on ITAs.
Reviewers should offer concrete, constructive, additive commentary to
contributors, and will be listed by name in the special issue.
 
Contributions: Data-driven original research manuscripts of 7500 words.
Manuscripts should be grounded in theory. Well-referenced "think pieces" with
clearly stated applications are also welcome for consideration.
 
Guest Editor: Greta Gorsuch, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics
and Second Language Studies, Texas Tech University.

Deadlines and Timeline:
October 1, 2013: 250-300 word abstracts + any additional material already
developed due to guest editor.
October 31, 2013: Authors informed of initial decision, begin work on
full-length manuscripts.

May 30, 2014: First full working drafts of manuscripts due to guest editor and
then sent to reviewers.

August 15, 2014: Reviews to guest editor, transmitted to contributors with
directions from guest editor.

October 15, 2014: Revised manuscripts due to guest editor. 

November 1, 2014: Final decision given to authors.

November, 2014 to early 2015: Copy editing, manuscripts sent to series editor.
prepare for publication.

First half of 2015: Publication of special issue.
