Description:

Assistant Professor of English: Applied Linguistics/English as a Second or Foreign Language at Colorado State University

Nine-month, tenure-track appointment with a 2-2 course load, to begin August 16, 2014. 

Required Qualifications:  
-  Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, TESL/TEFL, or equivalent in hand at time of appointment
-  Evidence of expertise in English as a second/foreign language teaching methodologies
-  Evidence of expertise in theories of second language acquisition/learning
-  Promising record of scholarship in Applied Linguistics or TESL/TEFL
-  Evidence of at least three years of excellent teaching at the post-secondary level in the US and/or abroad
-  Native or near-native English skills

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in TESL/TEFL and other relevant English department courses. He or she will lead professional development for faculty across campus who work with international students in general education courses and in specific fields (such as business, engineering, and computer science). The candidate will also assist with internationalization initiatives at the university and with the development of the MA TESL/TEFL program. Teaching responsibilities include the equivalent of four courses per year, with a one-course release annually for professional development workshops and courses for faculty across campus. The successful candidate will also advise students, engage in research and publication, and provide service to the department, university, and profession.
