Meeting Description:

The Language Department of the University of Southeastern Philippines in collaboration with the Linguistic Society of Mindanao announces its 1st International Paper Presentation on August 7-8, 2013 with the theme ‘Current Trends and Issues in Applied Linguistics’. 

Registration Fee:

For International Presenters/ Participants:

Early-bird registration: LSM Member - $100, Non-member - $100
Onsite registration: LSM Member - $125, Non-member - $150

For Local Presenters/ Participants: 

Early-bird registration: LSM Member: Php 3000, Non-member - Php 3500
Onsite registration: LSM Member - Php 3000, Non-member - Php 4000

Call for Papers:

Researchers, professors and graduate students are invited to present an abstract on topics related to research on languages and linguistics. The following are the sub-topics, but not limited to:

1. Applied Linguistics
2. Discourse Analysis
3. General Linguistics
4. Language for Special Purpose (LSP)
5. Language Acquisition
6. Pragmatics
7. Sociolinguistics
8. Translation
9. Interdisciplinary Research in Language and Linguistics

Submit a 300-word abstract and 150-word bio. It should be based on empirical evidence and have a clearly defined theoretical framework or approach. Each abstract will be refereed by experts of the chosen field. Chosen presenters will be notified on January 15, 2014. They will be asked to submit the full paper thereafter.

Guidelines for the Abstract:

Font size: 12
Font style: Times New Roman
Paragraph format: Justified
Title: All in capital letters (center), with Name/s, Affiliation, Email Address
Keywords: five (5) to ten (10) words

Speakers will be given 30 minutes each (20 minutes for presentation, and 10 minutes for questions).

The submission of abstracts will start on September 1, 2013. Deadline of submission is on December 31, 2013.

All chosen abstracts will be published in a refereed journal.
