21st Annual Graduate Colloquium of Iberian and Latin American Languages and Cultures
'Perspectives on bilingualism and language contact with Spanish: Language structure and language processing'

The graduate students of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Texas at Austin are pleased to announce the XXI Colloquium to be held on March 20-22, 2014. Presentations will be given in Spanish, Portuguese, or English or in a language related to the field of study.

Call for Papers:

21st Annual Graduate Colloquium of Iberian and Latin American Languages and Cultures
Department of Spanish and Portuguese, the University of Texas at Austin
March 20-22, 2014

The colloquium invites authors to submit original research on topics in Spanish and Portuguese language contact and bilingualism. We encourage research focused on (i) structural aspects of language in contact as well as (ii) psycholinguistic aspects of bilingual processing. Nevertheless, we welcome papers from a variety of theoretical approaches within linguistics as well as interdisciplinary submissions including but not limited to: psychology, linguistic anthropology, pedagogy, sociology, language policy, philosophy of language, and language attitudes and ideology.

Deadline and Proposal Guidelines:

Please submit an abstract of up to 300 words by January 1, 2014 to colloquiumut at gmail.com and include “Linguistics: Conference Abstract” in the subject line. A second page may be used for examples and references. Do not include any personal information on the same page as the abstract, but instead please provide a cover page that includes the title of the presentation, the name of the participant, affiliation and email address.
