Full Title: Current Issues in Language Planning

Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Sociolinguistics

Call Deadline: 30-Jan-2014

Language Planning and Language Rights

This issue looks into language rights and language planning in their dichotomy between the national and transnational context. As culturally and socially determined phenomena both are undergoing changes via Europeanisation and globalisation processes. This has implications for language planning across all domains. We welcome theoretical and empirical studies that consider (but are in their focus not limited to):

- The concept of linguistic rights for language planning;
- Language planning debates and policies as increasingly influenced by international language rights
  or linguistic human rights frameworks;
•- Implications of EU policy on minority language rights for language planning;
•- Impacts of official policies supporting the linguistic rights of communities for future planning

Please send abstracts to the editor for this issue, Dr Gabrielle Hogan-Brun at G.Hogan-Brun at bristol.ac.uk.

The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 30 January 2014. The deadline for receipt of the final papers is 15 June 2014.
