At present the gathered college is comprised of two professors, three docents, four senior lecturers, two lecturers and eight doctoral students. The literary scientific research is characterised by large breadth, with a focus on the interaction between literary and social texts from the Renaissance to the modern period. The research comprises readings of literary works from a political or ethical vantage point, gender studies based on feminist theory or masculinity studies, bioevolutionary and sociocultural studies, drama and theatre studies and interpretations of literary texts from a postmodern or postcolonial perspective. Other areas where research is carried out are interculturality, multiculturality and transculturality studies, but also analyses of adaptations and circumlocutions of canonical works. Another research area concerns English working-class literature from an intersectional perspective. Several of the projects comprise an important part of the department's common research profiles, in particular the profiles that comprise life stories, popular culture, transculturality, translation and propagation.
