Description:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Wayne State University is accepting applications for a nine-month tenured/tenure-track faculty appointment (rank open).  We are seeking candidates with a specialization in phonological disorders, child language development and phonetics to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop and maintain a line of research in the speciality area, and participate in a strong comprehensive academic, clinical and research environment.  

Located in the heart of Midtown amidst the cultural district, Wayne State University boasts affiliations with the region's largest network of hospitals (Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford, and Beaumont Hospitals) with access to an extensive urban population for research recruitment and clinical populations. WSU is a nationally recognized urban center of excellence in research and one of only two urban public universities to hold both Carnegie One RU/VH ("Very High Research Activity") and "Community Engagement" designations. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is housed in Rackham, a historic renovated Art Deco building overlooking the city and across the street from the Detroit Institute of Arts. The department has 14 full-time faculty and the largest speech pathology/audiology student body in the state. We have degrees for students pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, Au.D., and Ph.D. The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology clinical programs are fully accredited by CAA. The department offeres students a comprehensive clinical experience with two on-campus clinics and extensive community partnerships that also provide excellent opportunities for research.  

Qualifications:  A Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders, speech-language pathology or a closely related field is required. ABD candidates will also be considered. CCC-SLP is preferred. Clinical and teaching experience are highly desirable. An active research agenda and evidence of extramural funding commensurate with rank are expected.
