Meeting Description:

The IRIS team is pleased to host a two-day series of invited colloquia and poster presentations. The conference brings together researchers working across diverse areas of second language research, to address questions relating to particular data elicitation techniques, including: 

- What sorts of data emerge from using this technique/tool/instrument? 
- What are some of the methodological challenges of using this particular elicitation technique or approach to collecting data? 
- How do such challenges impact theory, findings, or research designs? 
- Are there recent innovations, developments, or refinements of this tool or approach?
- Do any other kinds of measures / instruments / tests contribute to our understanding of the use of this elicitation tool?

Please note: The EuroSLA annual conference is in Amsterdam, Wednesday 28 - Saturday 31 August 2013. Travel from Amsterdam to York is very reasonable, and the timing allows a day to visit York!

Registration is now open.

The conference and accommodation is in the National Science Learning Centre at York, and the conference dinner is at St William’s College, next to York Minster. 

- Reduced registration, on submission of material to IRIS whilst registration is open, including lunch & refreshments each day: £140
- Standard registration, including lunch & refreshments each day: £190
- Student registration, including lunch, refreshments each day: £90
- Ensuite Bed & Breakfast, adjacent to conference venue on York University campus: £55 per night	
- Conference dinner, 3 course meal in St William’s College, by York Minster: £40

If paying the reduced registration because you are submitting materials to IRIS during the conference registration period, you may submit your materials before or after you have paid for registration, but it must be before the payment deadline.

Call for Posters:

Abstracts for posters, addressing themes related to the above or others with a methodological slant, are welcome. Abstracts should be 300 words max, including titles, references and examples (excluding authors' names and contact details).

Please submit one version with full author details including one contact email, and one anonymised version.  

Send both to iris at iris-database.org with ABSTRACT in the subject heading. 

Deadline for abstract submission: Friday 26 April 2013

Acceptance response will be sent by Friday 31 May 2013. Abstracts will be reviewed by the IRIS team and members of the IRIS advisory board. 

There are 3 free places for students presenting the best posters (via refunded registration fees).

Posters should be either AO or A1 size.
