Call Deadline: 31-Mar-2013

Meeting Description:

The Greek Workshop on Frameworks and Systems for Computational Morphology (GrW-FSyCoM) aims to bring together researchers and developers in the area of computational morphology with Greek as the target language. The GrW-FSyCoM focuses on actual, working systems and frameworks based on linguistic principles providing linguistically motivated analysis and/or generation on the basis of linguistic categories.

GrW-FSyCoM will take place for the first time as part of the 11th International Conference on Greek Linguistics. Discussions among researchers and developers will be encouraged in order to provide an up-to-date overview of available systems and frameworks for computational morphology in the Greek language.

The topics of GrW-FSyCoM include technical aspects, applications, and use of systems and frameworks for computational morphology. While purely theoretical discussions may be relevant, the main topic of the workshop focuses on actual, working systems and prototypes for morphological analysis and generation with respect to Greek language technology.

Chairs:

Georgios Markopoulos (University of Athens, Greece)
Athanasios Karasimos (Academy of Athens, Greece)

Call for Papers:

Topics include, but are not limited to:

- Frameworks for developing morphological components
- Descriptions of systems for analyzing and generating word forms
- Interactive use of morphological components
- Open-source tools and resources for morphology
- Approaches for handling phenomena at the interface between morphology and syntax
- Use cases for morphological analysis and generation in applications
- Reports on actual uses of morphological analysis and generation in applications
- Methods and criteria for evaluating morphologic components with respect to performance, quality, and coverage

Important Dates:

Deadline for submission: March 31, 2013
Notification of acceptance: April 20, 2013
Workshop: September 28, 2013

One-page abstracts (references excluded) are to be electronically submitted to Georgios Markopoulos (gmarkop at phil.uoa.gr) and Athanasios Karasimos (akarasimos at gmail.com) by March 31, 2013.
