University or Organization: University of Gothenburg
Job Location: Gothenburg, Sweden
Web Address: http://www.gu.se
Job Rank: Lecturer

Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics; General Linguistics; Didactics

Required Language(s): English (eng)
                      Swedish (swe)

Description:

The University of Gothenburg obtained the right to examine within all
available teachers’ education in languages in connection with the new
teachers’ programme that started in 2011. The subject of English thus expects
to see a large expansion within both its teacher trainee education and its
courses in further education for teachers, as well as within our co-operation
within the Nordic Masters Programme. The subject seeks to put together a team
of competent teachers within these fields, possessing a wide range of academic
knowledge within the subject as well as a significant language didactic
competence, all in order to meet the challenge we have been given to educate
and examine the next generation of teachers.

The appointment covers research supervision, as well as teaching at both basic
and advanced levels, primarily within the framework of the education programme
for teachers. It is therefore preferable if the applicant has a teaching
degree in combination with an English didactic research profile. Since the
applicant will be considered for a range of teaching tasks, we would favour a
candidate who has a broad linguistic competence and flexibility within the
subject field. The teaching assignments also presuppose a good level of
knowledge in Swedish.
