Meeting Description:

The 8th AICLU (Associazione Italiana Centri Linguistici Italiani) Conference
will be on the theme of ‘Innovation in Methodology and Practice in
Language Learning: Experiences and Proposals for University Language
Centres’ and will be held at the University of Foggia from 30 May to 1 June
2013.

In a context of profound changes and rethinking not only of the entire
university system but also of language teaching and the role of university
language centres, the conference aims to give university teachers and
scholars as well as secondary school teachers the possibility to exchange
views on a wide range of highly topical issues related to foreign language
teaching. It is hoped that the conference will provide a showcase for new
trends in foreign language teaching in an increasingly globalized and
multilingual world which is at the same time being forced to carry out radical
reforms. The five topic areas are as follows:

1) The use of new technologies in language learning
2) Survival strategies for language centres in an era of diminishing
resources
3) New developments in teaching language for specific purposes
4) The changing role of testing, evaluation and certification in language
learning
5) Proposals and case studies in Content and Language Integrated
Learning (CLIL)

Plenary Speakers:

Dr. Peter Howarth (University of Leeds, Chair of the Association of
University Language Centres for the United Kingdom and Ireland)
Dr. Gisella Langé (Inspector for Italy’s Ministry of Education and expert in
CLIL)
Prof. Gillian Mansfield (University of Parma, President of CercleS -
Confédération Européenne des Centres de Langues de l’Enseignement
Supérieur)

Conference Fee:

100 euro (50 euro for students, PhD students, secondary school teachers
and presentation speakers)
