Short Title: LaTeCH 2013

Date: 08-Aug-2013 - 08-Aug-2013
Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Linguistic Field(s): Computational Linguistics

Call Deadline: 26-Apr-2013

Meeting Description:

The LaTeCH workshop series is a forum for researchers who develop technology for improved information access to data from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Cultural Heritage. Applications in these domains are rapidly emerging, while they typically entail new challenges with respect to NLP resources and workflows.

Noisy, non-standard, or historical textual or multimodal input, coupled with the scarcity of available digital semantic resources in philology-specific domains require the adaptation of existing, or the creation of novel approaches to (semi-)automatic processing tools and structured resources.

It is of mutual benefit that NLP experts, data specialists, and Digital Humanities representatives working in and across these areas get involved in the Computational Linguistics community and present their fundamental or applied R&D results.

Call for Papers:

Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, unpublished work in the form of long, short, or demo papers.

For technical details, please see http://sighum.science.ru.nl/latech2013/cfp.html.

Topics of LaTeCH 2013:

Adaptation of NLP tools to Cultural Heritage, Social Sciences, and Humanities domains
Automatic creation of semantic resources
Automatic error detection and cleaning
Complex annotation tools and interfaces
Linguistic variation, non-standard or historical use of language
Linking and retrieving information across different sources, media, and domains
Standardization efforts in research infrastructure and research data
Text mining and text analytics (named entities, events, sentiment, discourse, narration)
User modeling, recommendation, personalization
