9th Annual Conference on Endangered Languages and Cultures of Native America (CELCNA)

Teacher Workshop:

A concurrent workshop entitled ‘Teaching Students their Ancestral Language’ focusing on the Shoshoni language will be held on Saturday, March 9. Participation for this workshop requires pre-registration, available on the conference Facebook page.

Registration:

Pre-registration is available on the conference webpage. Registration before February 22: $90 for regular conference participants; students $50; and tribal elders - no cost. Registration after February 22 or on-site: $100 for conference participants ($60 for students). Call for Papers:

Papers, posters, or discussion sessions are invited on any aspect of American Indian languages and their cultural contexts; in particular we encourage papers on language documentation or language revitalization. Papers are 20 minutes each in length, with an additional 10 minutes for discussion. American Indian participants are especially invited and encouraged to participate. For more information about the conference, and to register, visit the Conference on Endangered Languages and Cultures of Native America Facebook page and click on ‘About.’

Call for Workshop Proposals:

Proposals are also encouraged for special workshops in language revitalization, such as materials development, orthographic issues, and the use of technology within documentation programs. Proposals for workshops or discussion sessions should specify which person or persons will lead the discussion, and what the proposed topic/question for discussion is.

Abstracts:

Abstracts, no longer than 300 words, should include presentation title, name of author(s), affiliation; and if appropriate, include the conclusions of your study and some relevant data. Please submit abstracts to cail.shoshone at gmail.com.

Deadline: January 25, 2013. The Program Committee will announce results about February 1.
