Meeting Description:

The Institute of Languages, the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to announce the 1st International Kashmir Conference on Linguistics 2013 to be held on 15-16 May 2013. This two-day interdisciplinary conference provides a meeting place for researchers and practitioners in the areas of theoretical and applied linguistics to present and share their research findings in a stimulating and interactive environment. The conference aims to promote collaborative and networking opportunities between scholars and practitioners and to advance new perspectives and reflect on current research and practice in various subfields of linguistics with special focus on language endangerment.

Call for Papers:

The general conference theme is ‘Endangered Languages in Asia,’ but panel discussions will focus on a variety of topics including:

- Language Documentation
- South Asian Languages (particularly endangered ones)
- Phonetics and Phonology
- Syntax
- Morphology
- Pragmatics
- Language Acquisition
- Applied Linguistics
- Discourse Analysis
- Conversational Analysis
- Interface Studies (Phonology/Morphology, Morphology/Syntax, Conversation Analysis/Phonetics, etc.)

Abstract Proposals and Deadlines:

Scholars are invited to submit abstracts (up to 350 words) by 15 February 2013 in Ms Word format, Times New Roman, Font size 12, as an email attachment sent to ayesha.sohail at ajku.edu.pk.

Notification of Acceptance of Abstracts:

Paper submissions will be reviewed by experts selected by the conference committee for their demonstrated knowledge of particular topics. The progress and results of the review process will be notified to authors by 15 March 2013.

Authors Guidelines:

Submissions must be original and should not have been published previously. Papers will be short - 20 minutes for the presentation plus time of discussion/questions. Please note that you will not be asked to submit full papers in advance of the conference. However, for those who would like to submit a full paper after the conference for publication, we will contact you during or after the conference.

Important Dates:

Paper abstract submission: 15 February 2013
Notification of acceptance: 15 March 2013
