Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 01-Mar-2013

Note: This is the second call for papers. The deadline for this call has been
extended.

Working Papers of the Linguistics Circle of the University of Victoria
Volume 23

Theme: Minority Languages

The Working Papers of the Linguistics Circle of the University of Victoria
(WPLC), http://web.uvic.ca/~wplc, is a working papers journal published by the
graduate students of Department of Linguistics at the University of Victoria.
The volumes go back to 1981 and include published proceedings from the
Northwest Linguistics Conference, as well as general and thematic volumes. In
2010 we switched to exclusive online publishing through the University of
Victoria Libraries' instance of the Open Journal System (OJS) software.

We are currently accepting submissions for Volume 23. The theme of this volume
is Minority Languages. We encourage submissions from both Applied Linguistics,
as well as Theoretical Linguistics, that in any way touch upon the topic of
Minority Languages.

We understand that Minority Languages is a broad topic, and are hoping to
receive submissions where a minority language is either the subject of a
linguistic analysis or the topic itself. While we often associate indigenous
languages with minority languages, we would also like to bring your attention
to other topics that may not initially come to mind, but would be excellent
additions to this volume: heritage languages, non-standard dialects, sign
languages, regional languages, language revitalization, and the list could go
on. We are looking forward to reading a diverse selection of submissions.

Submissions from both students and faculty are encouraged. We kindly ask that
student submissions (both undergraduate and graduate) be accompanied by an
email from a supervising professor, sent directly to our email account
(wplc at uvic.ca), indicating that the material is of publishable quality.
Without such a note there is no guarantee that papers will be reviewed. Please
forward any questions to wplc at uvic.ca.

To submit, visit our website for details: http://web.uvic.ca/~wplc and follow
the submission instructions. Papers submitted by email will not be considered.
Papers should not exceed 30 pages including references. Please follow the WPLC
style guide and other author guidelines available at:
http://journals.uvic.ca/index.php/WPLC/about/submissions#authorGuidelines

We look forward to your submissions.
