Description:

Job Description:
The applicant will have an active research program, and will be expected to
teach BA and MA courses on the theory and praxis of second language
acquisition, to supervise internships and BA and MA theses, and to
(co-)supervise PhD students. Applicants will also be expected to contribute to
administrative tasks at departmental and faculty level.

The candidate's research will be embedded in the research institute Centre for
Language Studies (http://www.ru.nl/cls/). CLS research combines theoretical
inspiration with a strong empirical and experimental orientation, and is
explicitly interdisciplinary in nature; collaborative partners include the Max
Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, and the Donders Institute for Brain,
Cognition and Behaviour, both on campus. The candidate's research should
strengthen our research lines in second language acquisition, and the
candidate should be willing to play an active and prominent role in bridging
the research done at the CLS and its partner institutes.

Requirements: 
- PhD degree in linguistics with a specialization relevant to the position,
preferably second language acquisition; affinity with research on Dutch as a
second language is an asset.
- a strong track record in second language acquisition research, evidenced by
a large number of publications in leading international publication outlets;
- Excellent teaching skills at undergraduate and graduate level, including BA
and MA thesis supervision;
- experience in (co-)supervising doctoral research effectively and to a high
standard
- track record of acquiring external funding
- interest and experience in administrative tasks and management 
- (near-) native knowledge of English. 
- ability and willingness to teach courses in Dutch

Appointment: 
Temporary, one-year contract, with the possibility of extension/permanent
position. You will be appointed as an Associate Professor Level 1
(Universitair Hoofddocent niveau 1) or  level 2 (Universitair Hoofddocent
niveau 2 ) , depending on qualifications  and experience. The gross monthly
salary will range from € 4,428 (salary scale 13) - € 5,920 (salary scale 14),
based on a full-time appointment (38 hours a week), depending on
qualifications and experience. In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday
allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year  bonus.
