The Department of Linguistics at Queen Mary, University of London seeks an
outstanding teacher-scholar at the rank of Lecturer, beginning September 2013.
The appointment will be made with a view to sustaining the Department's
attested record of excellence in research and teaching, as borne out by its
performance in RAE 2008 and in National Student Surveys.

The appointee will ideally have a research background in phonology. The
department consists of two established research groupings, one in
sociolinguistics and the other in syntax/semantics, and preference will be
given to candidates whose research interests clearly interface with either or
both of these research foci. The ideal candidate would be able to convene and
teach introductory courses in phonology as well as more advanced courses for
both undergraduates and MA students in phonology and its potential interfaces,
as part of the programmes in linguistics offered by the School at
undergraduate and postgraduate level.

This post is full-time and permanent. The candidate must be able to take up
his or her appointment from 1 September 2013. Salary will be in the range
£38,197 to £43,787 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include
30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free rail
season ticket loan. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility
to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality
Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave
to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
