Meeting Description:

The Project Hermēneus, with the emblematic Hermēneus Journal, has facilitated the dissemination of work in many subareas of Translation and Interpreting Studies for over 15 years. For this reason, the Project Hermēneus wishes to sponsor a series of conferences that will encourage contact among researchers in the subareas of translation studies.

The first conference will be centered on the use of corpus as a linguistic resource applied to the studies of translation and interpreting. The I Hermēneus Conference. Corpus-Based Translation and Interpreting Studies will be held next March 26-27, 2014, at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting (Soria, Spain).

The Organizing Committee of the I Hermēneus Conference is happy to announce the Call for Papers and participants, and invites to visit the following link for further information on registration, thematic areas, official languages: http://issuu.com/mtsanchez/docs/callforpapersicoloquihermeneus_c64404ddfdd03d.

Proposals should be sent to coloquio.hermenus.trad at uva.es (title, abstract of a maximum of 150 words in any of the official languages, with four key words, full name, university / institution).

All works related to one of the following areas will be considered: 

1. The descriptive branch of corpus-based translation studies
2. The applied branch of corpus-based translation studies: Projects of corpus creation for researchers in translation studies or for translation professionals, corpus in translation training, corpus and the quality evaluation of translations, applications for lexicography and for terminology, etc.
3. Corpus and contrastive, descriptive or applied studies
4. Corpus-based interpreting studies
5. The panorama of corpus-based translation studies in specific linguistic or cultural areas
6. Corpora as a connection between disciplines and between the academic world and the professional:
6.1 Collaboration projects among Translation or Interpreting Studies researchers and institutions or research groups involved in the processing of natural language, automatic translation or computer-assisted translation
6.2 Identification, description, or proposals for the exploitation of corpora not specifically designed for translators for translation studies (a single corpus or combined corpuses)
7. Proposals for the dissemination of research results in corpus-based translation and interpreting studies
