We are pleased to announce that the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore (India) will host the 35th Annual and the 1st International Conference of the Linguistic Society of India (ICOLSI-1).

The conference will include two invited colloquia (1 hour and 40 minutes each). 

1. Language and Mind in Autism (Lead Speaker, Prof. Parasuram Ramamoorthi)
2. Classifiers in Indian Languages (or) Language Conflict and Resolution Studies (to be confirmed)

2nd Call for Papers:

Abstracts are invited for oral presentations on substantial, original and unpublished research on all aspects of theoretical and applied linguistics, with particular focus on languages and linguistic applications relevant to South Asia.

The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following (alphabetically sorted): Anthropological Linguistics; Clinical Linguistics; Cognitive Linguistics; Computational Linguistics; Corpus Linguistics; Discourse Analysis; Ethnolinguistics, Historical Linguistics; Indian Grammatical Tradition; Language Planning; Language Teaching, Language Testing; Language Contact and Language Change; Language Endangerment and Language Documentation; Language Technology; Lexicography; Lexicology; Linguistic Typology; Machine Translation; Morphology; Natural Language Processing; Phonetics; Phonology; Pragmatics; Psycholinguistics; Semantics; Sign Language; Sociolinguistics; Stylistics; Syntax; Translation.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:  

Please note the changes in the abstract submission guidelines.

Abstracts should be submitted in English and should be sent by September 30, 2013 using the EasyAbs System at http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/LSI2013.

Authors may submit no more than one individual or one joint (co-authored) proposal (only one abstract per author). The abstracts should be anonymous, and fit on at most 2 pages including examples, tables/figures and references (using 12-point Times New Roman with reasonable margins).

Registration Fee:

The registration fee is as follows:

1. Participants from SAARC countries: Rs.1500/- 
2. Students from SAARC countries: Rs. 1000/-
3. Students from SAARC countries (without fellowship): Rs. 750/- 
4. All others: USD 75 (Seventy five US dollars)

Registration fee includes conference kit, modest accommodation and boarding facility for SAARC delegates. For other delegates, registration fee includes conference kit and boarding facility only. Delegates who wish to have hotel accommodation at their own expense may contact the Organizers well in advance at icolsi2013 at gmail.com. Modest accommodation will be provided to Paper Presenters on ‘first-come, first-served’ basis (depending upon receipt of the registration fee in advance). A list of hotels and similar facilities (to be booked and paid by the participants on their own) will be uploaded on the Linguistic Society of India website (http://www.lsi.org.in) and the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore website (http://www.ciil.org) in due course.

Please note the accompanying person(s) will also have to register.

The Conference Registration Form should be sent along with the Fee payment in advance. This is obligatory for all paper presenters. We regret that we will be unable to accept late registrations.

By Bank Transfer: The fee may be sent by Bank Transfer into the bank account of the Conference.
