Description:

The faculty of Language, Literature and Media Studies, Department of English, is seeking to appoint a Professor of English Linguistics (W3)

The successful appointee will teach and engage in research in the area of English linguistics, with an emphasis on linguistic theory and empirical approaches to the analysis of language (e.g. corpus linguistics, experimental methods). Experience in the field of teacher training (e.g. in the areas of SLA and/or TESOL) is an advantage.

Expected starting date: 01/10/2014.

The requirements for appointment at the professorial level are regulated in accordance with paragraph 49 of the Higher Education Act of Rhineland-Palatinate. Specifically, candidates are required to provide proof of pedagogical aptitude and an excellent academic track record.

Although the teaching language in the Department is English, the language of the Faculty is German. Successful candidates should, as a minimum, commit to acquiring a good working knowledge of German within two years of taking up their post.
