Description:

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (the French Program) http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/dllc/ and the Linguistics Program (http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/ling/) at the University of South Carolina invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in French Linguistics. The successful candidate will teach French linguistics, French language and general phonology. His/her research will complement that of colleagues who work in linguistics and applied linguistics. A Ph.D. degree in French linguistics completed by August 1, 2014 is a must. In addition to having experience and expertise in French linguistics and phonology, the candidate must have a native or near-native command of both French and English, demonstrated interests in promoting effective language teaching, and experience teaching at the college level. Duties include teaching two courses per semester (undergraduate and graduate), developing a strong research agenda, and departmental and university service. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Initial interviews will be conducted via Skype in December.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness (student evaluations, sample syllabi), representative scholarly work, and three letters of recommendation to the application address below.
