Description:

The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics (MPIEA) in Frankfurt/Main is
looking for research associates (Doctoral and Post-Doctoral candidates) to
work on the development and implementation of interdisciplinary research
projects in the fields of aesthetic perception and evaluation of music,
language and literature. We are looking for musicologists, literary scholars,
linguists, psychologists, sociologists, ethnologists and neuroscientists. The
contracts will run for five years. Pay rates are in accordance with German
public service salary scales (TVöD 13-14).

Applicants should have excellent qualifications in their own special fields
and be able to explain their interest in empirical aesthetics both in general
and in detail by outlining their own plans for projects.

Qualifications:
A completed degree or doctorate in one of the above-mentioned fields; multiple
qualifications and professional experience are desired.

Expectations Include:
Very good grades, very good knowledge of English, the ability to work
independently and creatively, delight in new challenges, capacity for team
work, a high level of social skills, and an above-average ability to work
under pressure.

The Institute takes a keen interest in the advancement of its research
associates. By virtue of its internal structure and its cooperation
arrangements with other institutions of higher education the Institute will
ensure that all associates from all cooperating fields will always be sure of
making the right specialist contacts.

The Max Planck Society is anxious to take on more disabled persons.
Applications from such persons are expressly desired.

The Max Planck Society would like to increase the proportion of women in those
fields in which they are under-represented. Women are therefore expressly
encouraged to apply.

Applications with the usual supporting documents and references (copies only,
please) should be addressed by 05.07.2013 to Frau Sabine Mai.
