Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 01-Jul-2013

Meeting Description:

The University of Connecticut will host the 44th annual meeting of the North East Linguistic Society on October 18-20, 2013.

In addition to the general session, there will be a special session called Locality across Domains. The notion of locality has played a prominent role throughout the development of linguistic theories and continues to do so today. The special session will explore locality restrictions in different modules of the grammar, and how these play in to the interfaces between them.

The invited speakers will be:

David Embick (UPenn)
Lisa Travis (McGill)
Colin Phillips (Maryland)

Final Call for Papers:

Deadline for submission: July 1, 2013

We invite abstracts from all fields of theoretical linguistics as part of the general session. Talks will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. As part of the general session, there will be two poster sessions. Submissions are limited to two per author, at most one paper single authored.

Abstracts, including references and data, should be limited to two single spaced pages (A4 or US Letter) with one inch (2.5cm) margins, minimum font size 11 (Times New Roman). Abstracts should be submitted through EasyChair (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=nels44) and must be received by July 1, 2013, 23:59pm EST. Please indicate whether you wish to be considered for the special session. Papers for the special session will also be considered for the general session.

Abstract Submission Information:

- Abstracts are to be submitted through EasyChair (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=nels44).
- Create an account or enter your username and password.
- Click New Submission on the top of the page.
- Enter information about author(s). You will find a link at the top of the ‘Author 1’ box called click here to add yourself. Click on this link to enter your own details automatically from your EasyChair profile.
- If there are multiple authors, enter the relevant information for each author.
- Select at least one author as Corresponding Author, using the checkbox. The author so identified will get mail messages from the system.
- Enter your title.
- In the Abstract box, simply type ‘see attached’. This information won’t be used, but EasyChair won’t let you leave it blank.
- Enter keywords (at least 3). These will be used to assign your abstract to appropriate reviewers, so bear that in mind in choosing them.
- In the Upload Paper section, browse for the pdf file of your abstract.
- Do not tick the ‘Abstract Only’ box! EasyChair regards your 2-page abstract, strictly speaking, as a ‘paper’.
- Press the Submit button. Do not press the button twice: uploading may take time.
- Logout. You will find the Logout button in the drop-down menu which is revealed when you hover your mouse over the EasyChair link.
