Description:

CAL Classification: Research Assistant I
Program Area: PreK-12 ELL Assessment
Salary: $43,000 - $50,000
Hours Per Week: 35 hrs/wk (full time)
Position Available: Immediately

Description of Duties:
The Research Assistant I provides research and development support for
project-specific tasks and activities, and is responsible for carrying out
project activities as assigned, contributing to the completion of project
tasks and deliverables.

Primary Responsabilities:
- Provide support to the test development team by reviewing testing materials
- Review text and graphics of test items for content accuracy and grade-level
appropriateness according to test specifications
- Review, edit, and proof test forms and ancillary materials
- Maintain and coordinate the test item database as needed
- Prepare and maintain a variety of files and records in support of test
development
- Prepare and organize materials for cognitive labs, try-outs and field tests
- Assist in the administration of cognitive labs, try-outs and field tests
- Assist in summarizing findings from cognitive labs, try-outs and field tests
- Perform key check on test materials prior to and after field test
- Conduct research on topics for new studies and report preparation
- Assist with completion of project tasks and deliverables
- Other related tasks as assigned
- Some travel may be required

Minimum Qualifications:
- MA/MS in a relevant field, or BA/BS in a relevant field with 4 years of
experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- Combination of training, education, and experience that provides the
required knowledge and abilities
- Degree in Language/Linguistics, Education, Second Language Acquisition,
TESOL or related discipline
- Experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs) and a commitment to
improving education, particularly for ELLs
- Teaching experience in the areas of reading, assessment, literacy and/or
content area instruction
- Experience developing tests, and teaching or learning a second language
- Experience in English as a Second Language (ESL) education
- Project assistance experience that involved working with multiple projects
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility and ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Acute attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal skills
