Description:

The Department of Linguistics in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the
University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year contractually
limited term appointment (CLTA) in Sociolinguistics/Language Variation and
Change at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2013. Deadline
for applications is April 30, 2013.

The position involves teaching courses in Variationist Sociolinguistics at the
undergraduate and graduate level, and others to be determined from among
courses such as the following: Introduction to Language, English Words,
English Grammar and Historical Linguistics.

Qualifications required are a Ph.D. in Linguistics specializing in the
quantitative analysis of language variation and change completed by July 1st,
2013, a record of excellence in research, and a demonstrated commitment to
excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include teaching and supervision at
the graduate and undergraduate levels. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
