Abstract:

This book analyzes from an integrative perspective the different processes
that are taking place in the “glocal” era– simultaneously global and local–
such as the techno-economic globalization process, as the building up of
politically supra-state entities and as the new migration movements, as well
as the paths these processes seem to follow. The analysis indicates that there
is a trend towards polyglottism in countries which used to be monolingual and
that such trend will be fostered with the massive migration movements. In the
conclusions the author urges to promote international communication, as well
as the linguistic adaptation of immigrants and the building up of mutually
shared identities.
