URL: http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/~cbl/MAPLL2013/index.html

Jointly organized by the MAPLL organization committee and the Technical Group of Thought and Language of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers

Date: August 3 (Saturday) - 4 (Sunday), 2013

Invited Speaker: Nayoung Kwon (Konkuk University)
https://sites.google.com/site/nayoungkwon1/

This annual international workshop focuses on various aspects of psycholinguistics, including but not limited to human language processing and acquisition. The majority of the presentations in the past were on Japanese and English but studies on other languages are very welcome.

All the morning sessions and part of the afternoon sessions on August 3 are given in Japanese. English sessions start in the afternoon on August 3 and continue until August 4. A poster session is scheduled in the evening of August 3. Note that this schedule is tentative and subject to change depending on the number of applications.

Registration:

Registration becomes possible through the MAPLL2013 website (Under construction, http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/~cbl/MAPLL2013/index.html) from June. Pre-registration is not necessary but is highly encouraged.

Call for Papers:

MAPLL2013 invites submissions for paper (oral) or poster presentations in any aspects of processing and learning of human languages. Studies from a wide range of perspectives will be considered including, but not exclusive to, those focusing on behavioral, neural, corpus data of adults, children, native, and L2 speakers. The language of interest is not limited to Japanese.

Paper (oral) presentations are supposed to be 20 minutes long and followed by 10 minutes discussion.

Poster presentations are scheduled in the evening on August 3rd accompanied with a short oral presentation (5 - 7 minutes).

All presentations should be given either in English (recommended) or in Japanese. Since the number of slots for oral presentations is limited, some of the abstract can be accepted only for poster presentation.

Please submit an abstract (100 words/1600 characters MAX) to the IEICE Technical Committee online submission system.

Submission deadline: June 7, 2013 (12:00pm Japan Standard Time)

Abstract Submission URL:

English system: http://www.ieice.org/ken/program/index.php?tgid=IEICE-TL&lang=eng
Japanese system: http://www.ieice.org/ken/program/index.php?tgid=IEICE-TL&lang=jap

Please make sure you are submitting abstract for ‘Kwansei Gakuin University’ to the Technical Committee on Thought and Language (TL).

Please select your preference for presentation type (paper (oral) or poster).

If you have command of Japanese, please use the Japanese submission site and submit the Japanese title and abstract as well as the English title and abstract.

Conference Proceedings:

All presenters will be invited to submit a paper (up to 6 pages) to the proceedings to appear in The Technical Report of Language and Thought of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (circulates domestically in Japan). Deadline for manuscript submission is June 25, 2013 12:00pm (Japanese Standard Time). The copyright of the proceedings papers will belong to the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, but it will not block your submitted work from being published elsewhere.
