Description:

The Resource Network for Linguistic Diversity is seeking to appoint a Training Support Officer to join our team in RNLD's Melbourne Office.

The Resource Network for Linguistic Diversity is a non-profit organisation which provides a broad range of services to increase the sustainability of Indigenous languages internationally. RNLD's Documenting and Revitalising Indigenous Languages (DRIL) training program delivers on-site training to Indigenous people in family groups, communities and Indigenous organisations. DRIL workshops are now supporting 65 languages in 28 sites across all Australian states and territories. The training team includes the Senior Linguist, DRIL Co-Director, and Aboriginal Regional Community Trainers.

The Training Support Officer position is the key support role for the DRIL training program. This person will provide support to the training staff, lead the process of gaining VET accreditation for the DRIL Certificates III and IV, liaise with current and prospective participants, organise workshops, maintain training records, and contribute to the development of instructional resources. The Training Support Officer will have qualifications in linguistics and preferably a background in education and training with an understanding of the VET sector and the use of online teaching platforms. Experience in working with Indigenous people in communities or organisations is essential.

This 0.8 FTE equivalent position comprises 30.4 hours per week with hours negotiable between 9.00 am-5.00 pm. It is remunerated on a range of AUD $61,138 - $71,615 (FTE) depending on qualifications and experience. Conditions include the 9.25% employer superannuation guarantee, pro-rata 10 days personal (sick and carer's) leave, and pro-rata 20 days annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.

The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to 27 June 2014, with a two-month probationary period. The position will be extended subject to renewal of our funding.

Duties:
- Provide administrative support to the training team
- Support the organisation of DRIL training workshops
- Liaise with current and prospective participants
- Respond to enquiries about the training program
- Maintain training records
- Provide follow-up support to training participants as required
- Manage the online DRIL Resource Room (moodle)
- Contribute to the development of instructional training materials for DRIL
- Lead the process of gaining VET accreditation for DRIL Certificates III and IV
- Investigate potential RTO partnerships
- Prepare written reports on training activities
- Contribute to the preparation of funding applications
- Other duties as required

Selection Criteria:

Essential:
- At least an honours degree in linguistics
- Background in education and training with experience in producing training resources
- Experience in working effectively with Indigenous people in communities or organisations
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare written reports
- Advanced ability using computers and office software
- Self-motivated and with a demonstrated record of working collaboratively
- Ability to meet deadlines

Desirable:
- Familiarity with the VET sector
- Experience in teaching or in the delivery of intensive workshops
- Familiarity with the moodle online learning environment
- Experience in writing grant applications and reports to funding agencies
