Have you ever wished you could systematically examine a large amount of formant movement data in fine detail? Your wish can now come true with FormantPro (version 1.0, developer: Yi Xu) -- a free interactive Praat script for large-scale systematic analysis of continuous formant movements: http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/yi/FormantPro/. Building on its sister tool ProsodyPro (http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/yi/ProsodyPro/), FormantPro has the following major features:

- Automatic extraction of continuous trajectories of F1, F2, F3 and F2_3, using Praat’s built-in “To Formant (burg)...” function, where F2_3 = mean (F2, F3), a joint indicator of tongue frontness

- Exhaustively process all sound files in a folder

- Automatically save time-normalized formant and formant velocity trajectories for selected intervals

- Automatically save many measurements, including: maxformant, minformant, meanformant, mean intensity, duration and max formant velocity

- Automatically collect extracted trajectories and measurements from all sound files in a folder and save them in ensemble files for further analysis and processing

- Automatically average measurements and time-normalized trajectories across repetitions and save them in ensemble files

- Automatically average time-normalized trajectories across speakers and save them in ensemble files
