The Third International Conference of the Arabic Department
Qatar University
'Linguistics and the development of Arabic Teaching'
Doha, April 29 - 30, 2014
 
The conference will examine the various aspects of the relation between linguistics and Arabic teaching for both native and non-native speakers. 

Venue and Facilities:

This conference will be hosted by Qatar University. It will afford a full board accommodation during the conference days in addition to a free entry visa to Qatar.

Call for Papers:
 
The Department of Arabic cordially invites researches to submit abstracts for its third international conference.

Suggested topics include:

- Theories of language acquisition
- Applied linguistics and Arabic teaching
- The role of grammar in teaching Arabic
- Strategies of Arabic learning
- The importance of literature to Arabic teaching
- Strategies of teaching Arabic for non-native speakers
- The international experiences of Language teaching
- Communication technologies as means of Arabic teaching and learning

These topics should only be considered as general guidelines and are not exhaustive. Any paper dealing with Arabic teaching or learning from a linguistic point of view will be considered.

Paper Submission:

Abstracts, not exceeding 400 words, should be sent by email before November 17, 2013 to headdeparabic at qu.edu.qa, with the name, current position and affiliation written in the body of the email. Notification of paper acceptance will be sent via email by end of November 2013. A full paper should be submitted by February 10, 2014. 

Each presentation will be allowed 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion.
