International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Special Interest Group (SIG): Call for book chapters

The IATEFL ESP SIG invites you to contribute a chapter to its fourth edited volume entitled 'Current Developments in English for Academic and Specific Purposes: Local Innovations and Global Perspectives' (working title). The book will be sponsored by Garnet Education who have published the first three edited volumes.

This volume aims to feature articles that address ESP or English for Academic Purposes (EAP) issues innovatively and have implications for EAP and ESP practitioners and researchers globally. In the field of English language teaching, the field of ESP (including EAP) is possibly the most innovative and rooted in local contexts. Despite its ostensibly localised practices, ESP has global implications. However, such innovative practices are not widely represented in the published ESP literature for ESP and EAP practitioners. This volume is expected to address these lacunae.

You are requested to submit an outline (up to 500 words) for a chapter by 16 December 2013. You may submit the chapter outline on your own or with a co-author. It is expected that the chapter goes beyond description of ESP or EAP situations into discussion of research data. The length of each chapter will be approximately 7,500 words including references, tables and figures (although slightly shorter chapters may be accepted if they address the theme of the book accordingly).

This volume will be edited by Prithvi Shrestha (IATEFL ESP SIG and The Open University). Please submit your chapter outline to the following email address: pnshrestha at gmail.com.

Please note the following key dates:
- Submission of an outline (500 words maximum) for your chapter: 16 December 2013.
- Notification of acceptance: 27 December 2013.
- Full chapter due: 28 February 2014.
- Publication of the volume: May 2014.

We look forward to receiving your chapter proposal soon.

Dr Prithvi Shrestha (Joint Co-ordinator)
