The Australian College of Kuwait welcomes you to its 2nd annual conference on Research-based strategies for teaching language and literacy to Arab ESL students. This conference, organized this year in collaboration with the British Council, will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas, sharing of teaching methods and research based strategies for teaching language and literacy to Arab ESL students.

The Australian College of Kuwait is proud to announce Professor Rod Ellis, MA, MEd, PhD as this year’s keynote speaker.  Professor Ellis is one of the leading researchers in second language acquisition and teaching for the last few decades.

Call for Proposals:

ACK invites academics, instructors, researchers and all those in the field to submit proposals and attend our 2nd annual conference.

Submission deadline: 24 November 2013

Abstracts are to be submitted for the following presentation types:
A. Presentations (1 hour)
B. Workshops (1.5 hours)

All submissions to the conference will be blind reviewed by a panel. Suggested topics of presentation are listed below for your reference, and are not limited to the following:

- Research-based strategies to teach the four skills
- Differentiation
- Strategies to teach students with learning difficulties
- Task based teaching (design and implementation) 
- Cooperative learning 
- E-learning
- Testing

Presentation and Workshop Title:

- The title must NOT exceed 10 words.
- The title must be clear and precise.
- The title must be relevant to presentation/workshop.

Presentation Abstract Submission Guidelines:

A presentation abstract is a brief summary (between 150 and 250 words). The abstract for a research based presentation should include the research objectives, methodology, and a discussion of outcomes.

Workshop Abstract Submission Guidelines:

A workshop abstract is a brief summary (between 150 and 250 words). The abstract for a workshop should include the research objectives, methodology, what the audience will do and learn from this interactive session. These sessions should be structured so that some explanatory or introductory information is provided with ample time for audience interaction, participation, and involvement.

Presenter Biography:

This is a short 50 – 80 word biography about the presenter stating the following items: Name of presenter, name of affiliated institution, job title, contact details other information. 

All submissions will be peer reviewed and acceptance/ rejection is based on their relevance to the conference topics. Notification of acceptance will be sent by 1 December 2013.
