CALL FOR PAPERS

for

INDIAN JOURNAL OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS - IJOAL
(Vol. 40, No. 1-2, Jan-Dec 2014)

SPECIAL ANNUAL ISSUE

Indian Journal of Applied Linguistics - IJOAL (ISSN 0379-0037) started in 1975, is a peer-reviewed international journal that has been publishing original research devoted to LANGUAGE and LINGUISTICS, for four decades now. It is published in March and September every year, though this is a call for its Special Annual Issue for the year 2014.

We invite articles pertaining to the relationship between expertise in language and linguistics, and the everyday experience of language. Works showing how local issues concerning language use and learning determine issues of broader relevance, and research seeking to develop an awareness of the way language works and how it affects peoples' lives are of particular relevance. The journal provides a forum for the discussion of language related problems faced by L1 and L2 learners, the various language teaching methodologies, apart from dealing with the general linguistic theories, and the branches and sub branches of linguistics. It also attempts to place before its readers new theoretical and methodological ideas and research from several disciplines engaged in applied linguistics - 'conceived as essentially a process seeking a negotiated settlement of language problems through the reconciliation of different and, at times, conflicting perspectives.'

We encourage submissions highlighting issues in applied linguistics arising across different regions and cultures, and how they seek different perspectives and different kinds of mediation. Some of the key areas of focus are: First and second language acquisition, modern language teaching methods, communicative competence, pedagogy, bilingualism, language problems, language planning, computational linguistics, sociolinguistics, ethnolinguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, pragmatics, stylistics, natural language processing, ELT, EFL, ESL, applied literary criticism, etc.

The papers pertaining to the areas mentioned above should be submitted to the Guest Editor, on his e-mail with a copy of the same to the Editors on their e-mail as well.

Manuscripts should generally not exceed 8000 words - including abstract, endnotes, references, and tables if any. Tables and figures should be included in the running text.

Submission of an article is taken to imply that it has not been previously published or is not being considered for publication elsewhere.

The last date of submission for the articles is November 30, 2013.

For the preparation of camera ready manuscripts, kindly refer to the "Guidelines for Submission" link given on our website www.bahripublications.in by going inside the specific journal's section.
