Description:

The Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies and the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Chicago announce a search to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in phonology. Duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising masters and doctoral students, pursuing an active research agenda, and contributing to the university and community through service activities. Native or near-native competence in Spanish is required. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in linguistics or a related field by the starting date of August 16, 2014.

The linguistics section of the Department is comprised of five linguists and three laboratories, and offers a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics, an M.A. in Teaching of Spanish, a graduate certificate in Second Language Acquisition, and a B.A. in Spanish with five possible concentrations including a BA in Hispanic linguistics. UIC is a diverse, linguistically rich, research-intensive university and provides a supportive environment for interdisciplinary research.
