Description:

The Department of Cognitive Science and the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University seek a faculty candidate at any level with a research program within the sciences of learning.  This joint appointment is a tenure-track position with responsibilities in both units; tenure will be determined within the Cognitive Science Department.

Research areas of particular interest include plasticity/learning/acquisition/development in the domains of language, vision or spatial representation. The ideal candidate should conduct interdisciplinary research that makes substantive contact with theory and uses experimental, developmental, linguistic, neuroscience and/or computational approaches, and has implications for application to learning settings, broadly construed. 

Candidates should be prepared to carry out teaching and student supervision at the graduate and undergraduate level in a formally-oriented, highly interdisciplinary Cognitive Science department.  Responsibilities in the School of Education will include teaching and research supervision at the doctoral level.  The successful candidate will be interested in collaborations with other faculty in the School of Education and their connections to diverse student populations in area public and private schools. This position is part of a new university-wide initiative in the Science of Learning http://scienceoflearning.jhu.edu/; further faculty growth in this area is anticipated.
