Description:

The TESOL Program at American University is looking to fill a full-time term faculty position starting in fall 2014, subject to final budgetary approval. 

The new faculty member will be responsible for teaching three 3-credit graduate-level TESOL courses each semester or equivalent, will be expected to contribute to the evaluations of teaching portfolios, serve as a committee member on oral comprehensive exams, supervise independent studies, and work collaboratively with the TESOL program director and faculty on further development and advancement of the program. 

Qualifications: M.A. in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Language Education or a closely related field is required, Ph.D. preferred.  At least two years of successful ESL/EFL teaching, experience in curriculum and materials development and in graduate level teaching and teacher-training are required.  Specialization in at least one of the following areas strongly preferred: TESOL methods, language assessment, and technology in language education.  Evidence of scholarly ability and potential preferred.
