Meeting Description:

The annual international World Englishes conferences started in 1995 (see the
video on the conference website for more details). It aims to examine the
focus and functions of different Englishes stemming from diverse cultural and
sociolinguistic contexts. The association focuses on global issues relating to
three major aspects of World Englishes, viz, language, literature and
pedagogy. Under the aegis of IAWE, these colloquia aim to establish links
among those who are involved with any aspect of world Englishes in research
and/or teaching.

Call for Papers:

IAWE 2014 Organizing Committee invites abstracts for individual presentations (20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion) and colloquia/panel discussion (2 hours and 10 minutes) that address various issues within the studies related to World Englishes. Topics related to WE theory, methodology, or pedagogy are welcome; especially the abstracts that address the conference theme: “Asian/African Contexts and World Englishes”. 

To submit your abstract, please visit the conference website. Abstracts for individual papers should be 300 words maximum (including references). Colloquium/Panel discussion abstracts should include a 300-word overview of the entire colloquium and a 300-word abstract for each individual presentation within the colloquium. Please note that abstracts that do not adhere to the word limit will not be accepted. 

Multiple abstracts may be submitted but only one will be accepted as the main author while in the others, one may appear as a secondary author. Abstracts will be anonymously peer reviewed by a panel of international scholars in the field.

Abstract submission date: 15 March - 31 May 2014
Notification of acceptance: 10 July – 31 July 2014
