Description:

The Department of Translation Studies at Innsbruck University is one of the oldest such departments in the German-speaking area. We offer translation degrees with the language pairs of German to and from English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Russian.

This full-time Postdoc position is available from 1 September 2014 for 6 years. It is expected that the successful candidate will work towards a habilitation and will do research in an area that is linked to translation studies through terminology, word formation and the lexicon. In addition, they are expected to teach 4-6 hours per week each semester and participate in administrative tasks in the department.

In order to be considered, the candidate must have a completed PhD in a domain of linguistics or translation studies that is relevant to terminology or the lexicon. An excellent competence in English and good communicative knowledge of German are required. Experience in working with terminology (preferably medical or legal) and/or with word formation is expected.

Additional desirable qualities include competence in one of the other languages taught at the department (French, Italian, Spanish, Russian) and experience with specialized software for terminology databases, with formal systems for describing languages or with lexical databases 

The annual salary is € 48,762 before taxes. In addition, the university offers an attractive package of further benefits.
