The University of Potsdam is pleased to announce the new

MSc in Cognitive Systems: Language, Learning, and Reasoning
http://www.cogsys.uni-potsdam.de

The MSc Cognitive Systems is a two-year Master's program that covers computational linguistics, machine learning, and knowledge representation and reasoning. The focus of this MSc is on developing intelligent computer systems, and in cognitive modeling. This brings several fields that already collaborate closely in research together in a unique, interdisciplinary combination.

The MSc is taught jointly by the departments of linguistics and computer science. All classes are taught in English, and progress from lectures on state-of-art methods in computational linguistics, machine learning and data analysis, and knowledge representation and reasoning towards independent work in projects that are defined by the students themselves. The final, fourth semester is devoted to preparing the MSc thesis.

The University of Potsdam is one of the leading institutions in the field of cognitive sciences in Europe. The city of Potsdam is the historical residence of the German emperors, and its palaces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many students choose to live in Berlin, one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the world and home to a lively start-up scene. Both cities have a high quality of life at modest living costs. Tuition fees at the University of Potsdam are below EUR 300 per semester and include a public transportation ticket.

If you are interested in the MSc Cognitive Systems, please check the website for more details on the program and the application process:

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.
