Description:

Institute for Advanced Study, IUSS, Pavia / San Raffaele University Milan, Italy, is welcoming applications for 4 three-year PhD positions in the Program "Cognitive Neuroscience and Philosophy of Mind," promoted by a consortium between the Institute for Advanced Studies (IUSS) in Pavia and Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, and directed by Prof. Andrea Moro

The PhD Program in Cognitive Neurosciences and Philosophy of Mind is divided into three main areas:
- Theoretical Syntax and Neurolinguistics; 
- Cognitive Sciences and Neurosciences; 
- Philosophy.

The PhD program aims at training qualified scholars in both theoretical reflection and experimental study. Research projects will be promoted both in traditional areas which evolve through connections with cognitive sciences (Linguistics, Syntax, Theories of Computation, Psychobiology, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language, Epistemology of Pure and Applied Sciences, ethical issues concerning studies on human cognition, public and applied ethics, bioethics, relations between reason and emotions); and in new and emerging domains (Neurolinguistics, Cognitive Neurosciences, Neuroeconomics, Neuropragmatics, the study of the neural basis of conscious thought, social cognitive sciences).

Three of the four positions will be covered by an institutional grant.
