Description:

The American University TESOL Program, part of the College of Arts 
and Sciences’ Department of World Languages and Cultures, invites 
applications for a position at the advanced assistant professor or 
associate professor level (tenure-track or tenured) in TESOL/Applied 
Linguistics. Candidates should have a specialization in Second 
Language Acquisition (SLA) and research methods in TESOL/Applied 
Linguistics, with emphases on the use of technology, new media tools 
(particularly gaming), and/or ecological perspectives in SLA.  
Responsibilities include conducting and publishing research; teaching 
graduate-level courses in the TESOL Program; advising and supervising 
students’ research; actively participating in MA TESOL students’ 
portfolio evaluations and oral comprehensive exams; and contributing 
to program, departmental, college, and university service activities. To 
be considered, applicants must have a PhD in hand in applied 
linguistics or an appropriate related field, a clear record of refereed 
publication, and at least two years of graduate-level teaching 
experience in TESOL/Applied Linguistics.
